Short version: Precy has no account, no analytics, and no servers of its own. Your library lives on your phone and, if you use iCloud, in your own iCloud.
Books, covers, page photographs, bookmarks, notes and recaps are stored on your iPhone using Apple's own on-device storage. They are never sent to us, never backed up to us, and are not readable by us. We have no server that could hold them.
iCloud. With Precy Premium, and when you are signed in to iCloud, that library is also kept in your own private iCloud database, so it survives a lost phone and appears on your other devices. On the free plan nothing is sent to iCloud at all and your library stays on the one device, which also means a lost or erased phone takes it with it; export a copy if that matters to you. Either way this is Apple's iCloud under your Apple Account, not a Precy account: we cannot see it, and neither can anyone you have not shared your Apple Account with. It is covered by Apple's privacy policy. Turning iCloud off for Precy in the Settings app keeps everything on the device alone.
Reading a cover, cutting it out of its background, recognising text in a photograph and finding the page number on it are all done on the device. Explanations of a sentence or a lyric are written by Apple's on-device model. None of that is sent anywhere.
Dictation uses Apple's speech recognition. On devices that can do it, which is most recent iPhones for languages you have downloaded, this runs entirely on the device. Where it cannot, iOS falls back to Apple's speech service and the audio is processed by Apple under their privacy policy. Precy never stores the audio and never sends it anywhere itself.
Your notes, bookmarks, recaps and photographs are never part of any of those requests. Nothing you write is ever sent to look something up.
Precy contains no analytics, no advertising, no third-party trackers and no crash reporting that identifies you. There is nothing to opt out of because there is nothing collecting.
The app and this website are separate things, and this paragraph is about the website only.
precy.app counts page visits using Vercel Web Analytics, so we can tell how many people looked at the site and which pages they read. It is cookieless and stores nothing on your device. It records that a page was viewed, along with ordinary details of the request such as the page address, the referring page, and a coarse country and device type. It does not record who you are, does not follow you to other websites, and does not build a profile of you.
It runs on this website and nowhere else. The app contains no analytics of any kind, and nothing from your library is ever involved. If you would rather not be counted at all, any content blocker or your browser's Do Not Track setting will stop it.
Camera: to photograph covers, spines and pages, and to scan a barcode. It is opened only when you choose the camera, never when you simply open the app.
Microphone and speech recognition: only while dictation is running, so you can speak a note instead of typing it.
Photo library: only the images you pick yourself. Each is asked for when first used and can be revoked in Settings.
Every book, bookmark, photograph, note and recap can be deleted individually inside the app. Settings › Burn it all down removes all of it at once, from the device and from your iCloud. Deleting the app removes the copy on that device; if iCloud is on, the copy in your iCloud remains until you erase it in the app or remove Precy's data in Settings › Apple Account › iCloud. We hold nothing, so there is nothing to ask us to delete.
Precy is not directed at children and collects nothing from anyone, of any age.
If what the app sends ever changes, this page changes with it and the date below moves. Nothing new starts leaving your phone quietly.
